Andrej Dodok 12. March 2018 By Klaudia Bednárová Responsible and meticulous teacher who systematically prepares for teaching. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Bratislava and the Institute of Management in London. In addition to teaching English supported by CAELT teacher certification, University of British Columbia, Canada, he also works for the international law firm Squire Patton Boggs and is also a court translator registered in the list of experts, interpreters and translators of the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic. Andrej is also a member of the People Council civic association. Andrej designs and tailors his teaching methodology according to the needs and typology of the student. He is demanding on students, but he can quickly adapt the topics to their requirements and is able to make excellent links between theory and practice. Andrej is professional in his demeanor, appearance as well as performance. At the Bridge he prepares advanced students for Cambridge exams (Business English BEC Higher, Legal English) and teaches courses focusing on legal English. He teaches specialist courses such as Policies and Directives, Anti money laundering, Company law, Arbitration and Slovak laws in English. He regularly participates in professional conferences organized by AmCham and the Slovak Bar Association. In his free time he enjoys exercising, reading professional literature and further education. He has been a lecturer at The Bridge since 2011.
Anthony Forsyth 2. November 2018 By kurzy Anthony is a 32-year old instructor from Scotland. A certified English teacher, he has previously worked in Slovakia (Bratislava and Trnava) and in Japan. He has experience in teaching adults, teenagers and children, with a preference for teaching adult classes. He is interested in current events, science and innovation, loves football and good food. Anthony is talkative, has an off-beat sense of humor, is a pleasant companion and conversations with him are always interesting and inspiring. In his free time, he likes reading, watching TV and movies, and he loves to travel whenever he can.
Ben Gwillim 12. March 2018 By Klaudia Bednárová Ben likes to create his own activities and students love his “survival game.” Ben became an English teacher after spending 25 years in the British Armed Forces. He was awarded the CELTA certificate at Anglo Continental, Bournemouth, England. In 2010 he graduated from Southampton University, UK, where he studied Corporate risk management. He has been living in Bratislava since February 2015, when he joined our language centre. As he says himself, he appreciates being part of a professional team of colleagues, whom he finds friendly, open and welcoming. He likes talking to people about various topics. In his free time he loves playing the guitar, doing sports and exploring Bratislava and other places in Slovakia.
Ceri Shumack 12. February 2018 By Klaudia Bednárová Ceri is a Brit who is proud of his Welsh roots. He enjoys teaching English and considers it to be the next level in his career. He enjoys teaching Business, Legal and General English classes, and is happy to cover a wide range of topics. Ceri attended university in Britain several times where he studied various subjects including Business and Finance, Ancient History, and Project & Construction management. He later worked in the steel industry as a production manager for many years. However, before that he was a professional musician and published several albums and enjoyed many tours. Ceri finds great pleasure in teaching English with us here at the Bridge where he has worked since March 2015. He teaches both groups and individuals. Ceri holds two ELT certificates, a TESOL certificate from Oxford house in Prague and also a TEFL certificate. He loves the interaction with his students and the challenge of tailoring courses to the specific needs of students. After studying Business and working in different Business capacities, Ceri finds such experience useful when incorporating it into his Business English classes. Furthermore, Ceri really appreciates the need to motivate students, in order for students to build their confidence and give themselves the best chance of improving their English language skills.
Darya Bayevskaya 21. April 2020 By Ján Ranostaj An inspiring teacher with a wide range of interests, you will be able to have a rich conversation with her on any topic. She has graduated from translating English and Russian in Ukraine and later gained an MBA in the US. Darya (Dasha) comes from Ukraine and has been a teacher at The Bridge since 2020. What he values the most about teaching is “the opportunity to help my students and celebrate the results of their hard work.” She loves self-improvement and lifelong learning, finding it daily in her teaching job. She started teaching while still at university. She is organised, responsible and able to establish a good rapport with her students quickly. She is multilingual and has excellent communication and problem solving skills. The best way to relax, according to Darya, is a long walk in the woods with a good audiobook and headphones. She regularly skypes with her two chihuahuas living with her family in Ukraine.
Emma Wyatt 13. April 2020 By Ján Ranostaj Emma is a friend we all wish we had. Chill, empathetic and deeply invested in others, with a brilliant sense of humour. She has a master’s degree in literature from Queen Mary’s College, University of London, and a CELTA diploma from the International House London. What he values the most about teaching is “getting to know many inspiring students and helping them get better at English”. She is talkative and enjoys meeting new people. At the same time she is also very structured and goal-oriented. Her students like her for her sense of humour and friendly nature. Emma comes from the south west of England. She enjoys reading, travelling, and visiting galleries and museums. Cooking and trying new recipes are her passions. However, you will not get her to go on a bike trip, as she can’t ride a bike. She will gladly go on a hike though.
Mary Clarke 22. April 2020 By kurzy Mary is a nice lecturer from the UK, she has been working in Slovakia since 2018. She is well travelled, having lived and worked in the Netherlands, Argentina and the UK. She has worked in various spheres, e.g. as a relationship manager, project manager for theatre and for 5 years as a court clerk. In addition to teaching English, she is also involved in arts projects, which has been her lifelong passion. She is communicative, empathetic with strongly developed interpersonal skills. She is systematic, consistently prepares for lessons and under her guidance and motivation, students make rapid progress in the language. Students appreciate her preparedness, energy and well-chosen approach. She specializes in business English, preferring to work with adults. In her spare time, she enjoys the aforementioned culture and arts, loves food and spending time in nature.
Maria Laura Cabada 12. March 2018 By Klaudia Bednárová Maria Laura Cabada is from Argentina. She studied English at the University of Cordoba and came to Slovakia in August 2015. In September 2017, she moved from Banská Bystrica to Bratislava where she started working for the Bridge language centre. Laura loves foreign languages and studied Russian and modern Greek, and also speaks a little Slovak. She is a pedagogy graduate and has experience in teaching adults, children and teenagers. Laura also loves travelling, she has travelled throughout Europe and always looks forward to discovering new places. In her free time she enjoys movies, meeting friends and reading history, philosophy and poetry. She has an interest in following politics both here in Slovakia and in the wider world.
Ondrej Koščík 12. March 2018 By Klaudia Bednárová Ondrej has been an English teacher and translator since 2011. He graduated from the University of Prešov where he majored in English and American studies. During his university studies he spent 6 months in Rezszow studying English and linguistics and also completed an internship in London and attended a summer school on contemporary literature in Edinburgh. Teaching English is Ondrej`s passion, proof of which can be found in his dedication to preparing and delivering his lessons. Another of Ondrej`s passions is photography. He spends much of his free time taking photos while attending conferences, festivals and concerts. He loves working with people and is fascinated by their stories.
Sam Patre 8. April 2020 By Ján Ranostaj If Sam hadn’t become a passionate teacher, she would have been a comedy actress. A mature optimist that will always make you feel welcome. She has gained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from India and TEFL, TESOL and TEYL certificates from Thailand. What he values the most about teaching is “the privilege to help spread knowledge. It is a feeling that cannot be compared to anything in the world. By being a teacher I can learn something new every day and it helps me in becoming a better person”. Sam comes from India and has been a teacher at The Bridge since 2019. She has outstanding communication skills. Her enthusiasm is infectious and can inspire students of all ages. She is patient, responsible and speaks multiple languages. Sam is a philanthropist and loves cooking, especially for others. While she looks like the embodiment of an extrovert, on the inside she is quite the opposite. She often finds calm and relax in solitude.
