We have communicated our message many times that the symbol of The Bridge truly represents what we believe in: that languages are a bridge between the worlds, cultures and people. Through each interaction and learning experience, we build bridges to ourselves, to our counterparts and to a better understanding of one another.

Therefore, we have decided to build a bridge between two conferences for teachers and actually merge them into one. And so this school year you will not be able to attend The Bridge Teachers’ Day, usually taking place in March.

We have become a partner of SCELT to support their idea of resilience. On 6-7 February 2026, we invite to you join us at a conference we organise together in Bratislava. We are convinced that partnerships, collaborations and joint events are the best way how to show that we care for one another and are prepared to find what connects us rather than divides us. And we believe that the forum will be a great platform to share knowledge and experience, as well as to network and meet peer teachers and colleagues.

Thanks to the generous support of the grant providers, including the U.S. Embassy Bratislava, the conference is completely free of charge for all the members of SCELT. There are numerous benefits of a SCELT membership, so if you would like to attend the conference, definitely consider this option. You can find all the detailed information here: https://www.scelt.sk/ .

Friday program

Date: 6 February 2026, Bratislava

Friday 9-9:30 + 9:45-10:30 Klaudia Bednárová – How to develop cognitive skills

Many teachers focus mainly on what to teach, but it is equally important to understand how students learn. This workshop will provide you with insights from cognitive psychology and neuroscience that you can immediately apply to your teaching. We will focus on how basic cognitive processes—memory, attention, comprehension, problem-solving, and learning as a process—work. We’ll show you how to help students learn new material effectively and create an environment that fosters deeper understanding and long-term retention of knowledge. You will gain practical tools, such as strategies to improve attention and concentration in the classroom.

Friday 12:15-13:00 Emma Wyatt – Mindset Matters

Fixed Mindset = bad. Growth mindset = good. We probably all know this already and we all want to encourage our learners to have a growth mindset, but how? This workshop will look into what growth and fixed mindset means to us, explore ways we can help our students develop a growth mindset, as well as discuss the ways in which we can all fall into the trap of the illusion of a growth mindset.

Friday 14:30-15:15 + 15:30-16:00 Kamila Jančíková – Expresso: a sip of creativity in a mug of words

Creative writing is a wonderful way how to connect with your intuition and grab everything out of that fascinating thing called the brain. There are many ways how to boost your creativity and the only precondition is: your ACTIVITY. With a little help in the beginning, you will just sit down and write. Without any limits. In the workshop, we will explain the basics, look at how we can use creative writing in our classes and the main part will include: your own WRITING. And why should you attend? Because it´s fun and it opens new horizons. Playing with words, turning them upside down, linking your ideas with them and observing what is arising from this game. Looking forward to seeing you… write.

Teachers are the heart of every school — yet too often, their work is reduced to timetables, hours, and administrative expectations. In this session, an HR professional shares a human- centered look at how schools can create more supportive, respectful, and motivating environments for their teaching teams. Through real stories, practical examples, and simple ideas already used in schools, this presentation explores what teachers truly need to thrive: stability, recognition, and a genuine voice. You’ll hear how small shifts in communication, onboarding, feedback, and daily interactions can transform the way teachers experience their work — even in resource- limited or state school environments. This is a talk about partnership, respect, and the power of being seen as a professional with expertise — not just a name on a schedule.
