\n Teachers\u2019 Day is a one-day conference for teachers of English, taking place on 22 March 2025 from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm at the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology STU on Radlinsk\u00e9ho 9 in Bratislava. The aim of the conference is to share experience and knowledge, as well as to create space for meeting colleagues and friends.\r\nNEW: During the conference, you can book and try a coaching session in English as well as a yoga class.\r\nWe look forward to seeing you at the conference!\n <\/div>\n

JON HIRD\u00a0 is a teacher, teacher trainer and ELT materials writer based in Oxford, UK. He teaches grammar, professional and diplomatic English and EAP at the University of Oxford and frequently gives talks and workshops in the UK and overseas. He has written and contributed to a number of ELT publications for a range of ELT publishers, including grammar, course book and other resource material.<\/p>\n

Keynote:\u00a0 What\u2019s it mean, it\u2019s different spoken grammar? <\/strong><\/p>\n

The grammar of spoken English is in a number of ways different from the \u2018tidy\u2019 grammar that learners are generally taught. Through the analysis of an authentic dialogue, we will take an overview of some key features of spoken grammar and explore how we can, should we wish to, introduce this into our teaching to help our learners better understand and use it.<\/p>\n

Workshop:\u00a0 Bringing Spoken Grammar into the Classroom<\/strong><\/p>\n

This practical session follows on the keynote speech and looks at some further aspects of spoken grammar. As a starting point, we will listen to and analyse an authentic dialogue and then consider some of its spoken grammar features in more detail and explore how we can incorporate these into our teaching.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
